The Central Hub Brighton is the SEMH specialist provision for the city consisting of Brighton and Hove Pupil Referral unit, Primary and Middle School, The Connected Hub and the Treehouse (based at Fairlight Primary School) and has three bases across the city. We have good links with other educational organisations in the city. Hours: 32 hours per week, term-time only.
Paid weeks per year: 47.36 (inclusive of holiday entitlement)
Fixed term: 31st August 2027 in the first instance
Start date: 1 September 2026
About the Role
Following the further expansion of the middle school provision into year 9, The Central Hub needs dynamic and innovative Teaching Assistants to join our team. You will have to have the resilience and ability to work as part of a small team dedicated to supporting our young people with SEMH to help overcome their barriers to learning and instil the skills that they need to succeed.
Your role will be:
- To work alongside teachers within the classroom to supports students with their learning, encouraging pupils to interact with others in the classroom and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- To work under the supervision of the classroom teachers and senior staff to understand the learning needs of pupils and ensure effective support in across the curriculum.
- To support the development and maintenance of resources to assist in teaching.
- To monitor progress of named students and provide feedback.
- To support individual students in their learning.
- To prepare, develop, maintain and deploy appropriate learning aids, materials and equipment, including ICT, to assist in teaching.
