Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Zen Educate
Zen Educate is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialised school in Stroud for supply work. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a distinguished educational environment on a flexible, day-to-day basis.
The Role
You will be working in a school that provides specialist education for pupils aged 2 to 19 with severe or profound learning difficulties. The school's curriculum is highly personalised, focusing on communication, independence, and self-care. Your role will be hands-on, providing crucial support in the classroom and helping pupils to engage with their learning. This may include assisting with activities, helping with 1:1 or small group work, and promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
The school is dedicated to a Total Communication approach, utilising methods such as Makaton signing and Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) to help pupils express their needs and make choices. This is an ideal role for someone who is keen to develop their skills in a supportive, multi-sensory environment.
