Job summary

We are seeking to recruit for a Secretary who has a passion for high quality customer care to work within the Community Leg Ulcer Service. This is a part time role, based at Parkgate House, East Reach, Taunton.

You'll provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Community Leg Ulcer Service. We are looking for someone who can use their own initiative, work well with other people, be able to work on their own as well as being able to approach others for support. The right candidate will have excellent IT and typing skills.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Communicate with patients, colleagues, internal and external

Deal with day to day correspondence,

Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty team, taking appropriate action where necessary

Prioritise own work efficiently and effectively, highlighting any issues to the Band 4

Type all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by medical staff, by use of audio or copy typing.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum of 5 GSCEs including English Language and Maths or functional skills

Level 3 qualifications or equivalent level of experience

Desirable

RSA/OCR III or equivalent typing/word processing including audio typing

Experience

Audio typing/word processing

Minimum 1 year office experience within last 5 years

Desirable

Previous secretarial experience

Experience of working in a healthcare setting/previous experience of NHS administration processes

Additional Criteria

Essential

IT literate; including recent experience of using Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel

Knowledge of medical terminology

Working knowledge of secretarial/administrative procedures and systems

Problem solving
