Calderdale Museums Service encourages residents and tourists to explore Calderdale and learn about the history and heritage of the region. Our educational programme is a key aspect of the service and we are seeking fun, creative and enthusiastic workshop leaders to assist in the delivery of a wide range of educational activities.

As a workshop leader, you will enrich the learning experience of schoolchildren, families and adults in Calderdale across our sites and at outreach venues. You will be delivering creative and inclusive museum learning sessions such as school workshops, both as a character in role and as an enabler investigating our fantastic handling collection, or delivering art and craft activities for public audiences during school holidays.

Working within our learning team, you will be responsible for setting up, delivering and clearing up for group workshops on site. Age ranges for workshops will vary and training in the workshop topics will be provided by our Learning Officer.

The role is casual, paid on an hourly basis, and depends on the number of bookings we receive and your availability.

This presents a great opportunity for an individual who is friendly, flexible and committed to providing the highest standards of educational workshops. You should have drama, storytelling, art or teaching skills, and a knowledge of and passion for history. You need to be skilled and experienced at working with school groups and be able to communicate effectively with children, young people and their families. Previous experience working in teaching or museums would be advantageous.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

Please contact Karen Finnegan on either ***email_hidden*** 01422 28 4465 if you would like an informal discussion of the opportunity.

We reserve the right to close the post in the event of high levels of response. You are advised to submit your application form as soon as possible.

Closing Date: Tuesday 30th June Interview Date: Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st July
