Personal Training/Sports Massage Tutor

Location: Manchester and Liverpool

The role

Fitasylum is looking for an engaging and knowledgeable tutor to support the delivery of our Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Sports Massage qualifications across Manchester and Liverpool.

We may appoint one full-time tutor or two part-time tutors, depending on the experience, availability and subject expertise of the successful candidates.

This is an opportunity for someone who knows their subject and understands how to make that knowledge useful to other people.

We are not looking for someone who simply delivers content.

We want a tutor who can build learner confidence, maintain high expectations and recognise when someone needs encouragement, a different explanation or a greater challenge.

The role will involve delivering and supporting our courses through a blended learning model, combining practical face-to-face teaching with online learner support, assessment and feedback.

Fitasylum delivers industry-focused fitness and sports massage qualifications designed to prepare learners for real careers.

We recently completed a successful Ofsted inspection and are proud of the quality of education, curriculum and support our learners receive.

Our learners come from a range of backgrounds. Some are beginning their first career, some are developing within the industry and others are returning to education after a long time away.

We take standards seriously, but we also believe people learn best in an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, practising skills and getting things wrong before getting them right.

Our tutors play a central role in creating that environment.

Key responsibilities

- Deliver engaging theory and practical sessions for Level 3 Personal Training and/or Level 3 Sports Massage courses

- Support learners through our blended delivery model

- Demonstrate practical techniques clearly, safely and professionally

- Assess learner knowledge and practical competence

- Provide timely, constructive and useful feedback

- Monitor learner progress and identify where additional support or challenge is needed

- Maintain accurate learner and assessment records

- Support learners with the completion of coursework and practical evidence

- Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing improvement of course delivery

- Maintain high standards of education, safeguarding and professional conduct

- Work collaboratively with the wider education and quality team

- Travel between our Manchester and Liverpool delivery venues

There will be plenty of rewarding moments where learners develop confidence and master new skills.

There will also be administration, assessment paperwork and the occasional mystery of how the wrong document has been uploaded three times.

Both are part of the role.

Essential requirements

- Level 3 Personal Training qualification

- Level 3 Sports Massage qualification

Applicants must also

- Have relevant experience within personal training, sports massage or a related industry

- Be confident communicating with individuals and groups

- Be able to explain technical and practical information clearly

- Be organised, dependable and able to manage their workload

- Hold a full driving licence and be able to travel between Manchester and Liverpool

- Be committed to maintaining high standards while supporting learners to achieve them

Applicants who are qualified and experienced in both personal training and sports massage are particularly encouraged to apply.

Desirable requirements

- Level 3 Award in Education and Training

- Certificate in Education

- PGCE

- Assessor qualification

- Previous teaching, training or assessing experience

- Experience delivering through a blended learning model

- Experience supporting learners with different needs and levels of confidence

- Knowledge of quality assurance and Ofsted expectations

A teaching qualification is desirable, but it does not automatically make someone an effective tutor.

We are equally interested in candidates who have strong industry experience and a natural ability to explain, demonstrate and help other people improve.

The person we are looking for

A strong candidate will be able to combine support with challenge.

They will create an environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, while making sure that confidence is backed by genuine competence.

They will notice when a learner has become quiet, recognise when apparent confidence is hiding a gap in knowledge and adapt their approach when the original explanation has not worked.

They will bring energy and personality to their teaching without making the session about themselves.

Above all, they will care whether learners genuinely understand and are ready to use their skills in the real world.
