Role Purpose
Meadow Foods are looking for a dedicated and experienced Lab Manager to lead the Lab Department to ensure product, compliance and operational risks are adequately assessed and suitable risk management strategies implemented. Management of periodic internal reviews and audits to ensure compliance procedures are followed. Managing internal investigation of all compliance issues.
Working hours
This role is to be worked from Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:00 with a 30 minute lunch break each day.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management of Compliance Technicians, Manage lab rota and Compliance Team time and attendance via the Tensor system
- Compliance Team Training, including personal development plans and regular 1-1s.
- Report and action out of specs, Trending and Reporting for Micro, Environmental, QM results
- Collate daily paperwork including HACCP sign off and Lab results spot checks
- Auditing Principles and assist in maintaining Chester Site Management Systems
- Release and/or Hold packed product
- Coordinating Trials for Products and Equipment
- Maintain and administer the Incident Management System & Complaint System ensuring all issues are investigated to root cause and closed out sufficiently
- Follow up of non-conformities raised on internal audits, Manage internal auditing system and inspection programmes for Health, Hygiene, Glass and Plastics
- Audit & Review of departmental documentation including Laboratory Procedures, COSHH Assessments and Risk Assessments
- Ensure that the HACCP document is completed accurately and in full on a daily basis thus ensuring full traceability on site and advise Departmental Managers on any non-compliance for rectification
- Administration of lab service schedules, stock checks and lab stock ordering
- Manage contaminants monitoring programmes and shelf-life programmes
- Customer Specific COA / Export Certs documentation
- Monthly KPIs and Training out procedures to respective employees
- To be a key stake holder in getting the onsite lab accredited
- Drive Site Quality forward
Key Measures
- Micro Reporting & trending improvements
- Testing schedules and risk assessments up to date
- Ensure SOPs fit for purpose & fully trained
- Maintain lab equipment calibrated & maintained
- Achieve Lab accreditation
- Lead and Manage the Lab team
Essential Requirements
- Previous Management Experience
- Experience in Food Industry
- Understanding of Food Microbiology & Chemistry
- Trained in Level 3 Food Hygiene
- COSSH Assessments
- HACCP Level 3
- Internal Audit
- IOSH
