Architect

Diocese of Ely

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Peter’s Church, Coton is seeking to appoint a lead consultant/architect/surveyor to support the enhancement of our Grade I-listed church.

St Peter’s Church has received a substantial bequest to improve its facilities through the addition of an accessible toilet and a simple servery for refreshments. Preliminary work undertaken by the PCC, Friends group, Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC), and an initial feasibility study (including the Statement of Significance, draft plans, and DAC advice) has explored a range of potential options. The PCC’s preferred option is an external extension attached to the existing building.

The PCC now wishes to appoint an architect to develop the proposals to the next stage, liaise with the local planning authority, and support the church through the remaining faculty application process and subsequent construction and delivery of the project.

The PCC Is Open To Refining The Proposals In Collaboration With The Appointed Architect In Order To Achieve a Solution That

  • meets the long-term needs of the church community;
  • secures planning permission and faculty approval; and
  • can be delivered within the available bequest and any additional grant funding obtained.

We Envisage The Following Stages To The Project

  • Part 1: Development of detailed architectural proposals and supporting materials for submission and approval to the planning authority and the DAC.
  • Part 2: Project management of the works, including procurement and oversight of contractors through to completion.

Key facts and further information

The estimated costings of the solutions identified in the feasibility study are approximately £150k (although these haven’t been fully qualified) which matches the bequest.
