The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic person to become part of the leadership team at our highly successful and award winning Llwyn y Bryn campus, located in the vibrant area of Uplands. A diverse campus, Llwyn y Bryn consists of four different learning areas, namely, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Visual Arts, Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Music Performance. We are seeking applications from individuals with experience in a leadership or co-ordination role and who is passionate about teaching and learning, curriculum innovation and ensuring our learners reach their full potential.

Working with the Learning Area Manager (LAM) to provide effective leadership to the learning areas by providing clear direction to staff, enabling, inspiring, motivating and supporting them to provide the highest quality of education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of the Learning Areas including curriculum, quality, budgeting, staff deployment, performance management, and learner management.
  • Support the Learning Area Manager in ensuring high quality teaching, learning and outcomes within the Learning Area.
  • Support the Learning Area manager to embed a consistent approach to learner management.

About you

  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
  • Degree or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Knowledge of current issues facing FE Colleges including curriculum developments with a strong appreciation of Work Based Learning
  • Knowledge of FE funding methodologies including HE, WBL, ACL, 14-16.
  • Knowledge of developing curriculum to enhance progression and employability prospects e.g. essential skills
