Lead Teacher, Curriculum & Operational Lead
Shine Learning & Training Centre
We’re Hiring: Lead Teacher – Curriculum & Quality (Bedford)
Shine Learning & Training Centre | Alternative Provision | Bedfordshire
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience
LOCATION: BEDFORD SITE.
Shine Learning & Training Centre is looking for an exceptional Lead Teacher – Curriculum & Quality to join our growing alternative provision.
This is not a traditional teaching role. Please read this advert carefully, as the pressure and teaching requirements for this job role are not in line with those in a mainstream setting.
We are looking for someone who understands that, in alternative provision, education is about far more than delivering lessons. It is about rebuilding trust, confidence, communication, resilience and belief in learning.
Our pupils may have experienced disrupted education, SEMH needs, anxiety, trauma, poor attendance, low confidence or other barriers to learning. They need adults who are calm, consistent, skilled, flexible and ambitious for them.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and developing our English, Functional Skills and wider curriculum offer, while also supporting teaching and learning across multiple subjects across the centre.
You will teach, lead, coach, model good practice and help shape a curriculum that is meaningful, inclusive and genuinely prepares young people for their next step. This is an ideal Middle Leadership role for a candidate who has a thirst for developing Teaching and Learning.
The role will involve:
- Leading and developing our English curriculum and Functional Skills provision
- Supporting staff with planning, delivery, differentiation and evidence of progress
- Helping pupils develop literacy, communication, confidence and self-expression
- Contributing to the wider quality of education across Shine
- Supporting operational consistency, routines and the calm running of the provision
- Helping students achieve recognised qualifications, personal development and successful next steps
- Success in this role will not be measured by qualifications alone.
- It will also be seen in pupils who begin to attend more regularly, engage more confidently, communicate more clearly, regulate more successfully and start to believe that education can work for them again.
We are looking for someone who is
- A qualified teacher or experienced education professional (QTS essential)
- Does NOT require Visa Sponsorship
- Strong in English, literacy and Functional Skills
- Calm, relational and highly consistent
- Confident supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or disrupted education
- Able to coach and support colleagues practically
- Flexible, reflective and solution-focused
- Ambitious for young people who may have disengaged from mainstream education
Experience in alternative provision, PRU, SEMH, SEND or therapeutic education would be highly desirable, but the right mindset, values and approach are just as important.
At Shine, our curruculumshould give pupils a voice. It should help them understand themselves, communicate with others, access opportunities and believe that learning can be meaningful again.
If you are ready for a role where your teaching, leadership and relationships can make a genuine difference, we would love to hear from you.
