SENDCo and Inclusion Lead This job description is to be performed in accordance with the provisions of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document and the National Professional Standards for School Teachers. This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the Headteacher and member of staff, and will be reviewed annually.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring SENDCo and Inclusion Lead, who is passionate about pupils with SEN, and has the experience and ability to have a positive impact across our fantastic, inclusive academy.

What You Need to Succeed

The Southwater Infant Academy is looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner who currently holds the National Award or NPQ for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination, or is willing to undertake the training needed to achieve this. The successful applicant will complement our friendly, hardworking, committed team of professionals and happy, enthusiastic, and curious pupils who are very proud of our academy.

Candidates with or without a SENCO Qualification are welcome to apply.

We are looking for someone who

  • is committed to improving outcomes for children of all abilities
  • has a solid understanding of early years education, and how to support early literacy and numeracy
  • ensures they are aware of national updates, reforms and guidance related to SEND and Inclusion
  • is able to establish positive working relationships with pupils and parents
  • has the ability to provide clear data and reports to keep trustees updated
  • has experience of school improvement, is able to think strategically, and will lead and develop inclusive practice across the school
  • will coordinate the daily provision for SEND children, liaising with staff, parents and external agencies
  • can hold staff to account while also providing professional guidance, training, and quality support.
  • can effectively monitor quality of teaching and attainment of children
  • is an effective communicator, ensuring OAIP is embedded and the Graduated Approach is robust.
