Mechanical Design Engineer
Equisera
Location: Equisera HQ Eastington, Gloucestershire
Salary: From £40,000 to £55,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time
Reports to: Chief Engineer
About Equisera
At Equisera, you will be part of a team building the next generation of carbon-negative energy, tackling some of the hardest problems in the global energy transition.
Our breakthrough RiPR (Rising Pressure Reformer) technology converts wet biogenic feedstocks, including agricultural and food waste and even plastics, into high-yield hydrogen and biomethane with minimal pre-processing. Both outputs capture carbon dioxide and create biochar, creating a truly carbon-negative fuel solution.
Backed by significant investment and strategic partnerships, you will be joining us at a critical scale-up phase. You will work within a small, passionate, high-impact team and help shape a cleaner, greener energy future.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join Equisera’s engineering team at an exciting stage in our commercialisation journey, supporting the development of next-generation carbon-negative energy systems.
You will play a key role in the mechanical design and development of prototype, pilot, and future commercial plant systems, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and research teams. The role combines hands-on engineering with detailed design work and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of pioneering clean-energy technology.
Your work will include developing plant layouts, general assemblies, detailed mechanical designs, fabrication drawings, and production of the supporting engineering documentation for process equipment and integrated plant systems. You will also contribute to engineering problem solving, equipment specification, system integration, design reviews, and continuous improvement activities across the wider engineering programme.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable operating within a fast-moving, technically ambitious start-up environment where adaptability, initiative, and collaboration are highly valued.
Training will be provided on ANSYS and other engineering software relevant to the role.
