Expression of Interest (EOI) Youth Support Worker – LGBTQ+ / OutYouth Provision

(5 hours per week | Fixed ‑ term pilot to March 2027)

Reporting to: Senior Professional Youth Worker

This vacancy is only available for applications from existing Internal Plymouth City Council employees and Agency Workers who are in an active placement and have 12 weeks continuous service. Applications submitted by External candidates who do not meet this criteria will not be considered and will be rejected.

About The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an internal Expression of Interest for a Youth Support Worker to support the delivery and development of the Community Youth Team’s LGBTQ+ (OutYouth) provision.

This role forms part of a time‑limited pilot to March 2027, designed to strengthen inclusive youth work delivery and increase capacity in response to identified need.

The post focuses on direct youth work delivery and sits fully within the scope of the N346 Youth Support Worker (JNC) role profile.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the N346 Youth Support Worker (JNC) role profile, the post holder will:

  • Deliver relationship‑based youth work with LGBTQ+ young people through group and targeted activity
  • Provide emotional wellbeing support using My Way and strengths‑based approaches
  • Contribute to the development of safe, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ young people
  • Support participation, empowerment, and positive identity development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant partners to reduce barriers to engagement
  • Maintain appropriate youth work records, risk assessments, and reflective evaluations
  • Ensure practice aligns with safeguarding, equality, and youth work standards

Who This Is For

This EOI Is Suitable For Practitioners Who

  • Are currently employed within the Community Youth Team or PCC youth work services
  • Have experience of delivering inclusive and relationship‑based youth work
  • Are confident supporting young people around identity, wellbeing, and participation
  • Wish to increase their core hours in a focused delivery role

Hours and Contract

  • 5 hours per week
  • Time‑limited pilot role running to March 2027
  • Appointment subject to review outcomes at the end of the pilot period

General Information

  • These roles are part of a pilot restructure of an existing vacant post
  • Appointments will be made via internal EOI process, subject to service approval
  • Both roles sit fully within their respective JNC role profiles and do not alter grading or management structures
  • A review will be undertaken prior to March 2027, led by Senior Professional Youth Workers, engaging colleagues to assess impact and inform next steps
