Job Introduction

This Trading Standards apprenticeship role is a fixed term post until 31st March 2029, funded through a Department of Health and Social Care investment aimed at strengthening Trading Standards enforcement. You’ll work towards a level 6 Trading Standards professional apprenticeship, supported by a structured training programme and a team of experienced professionals to become fully qualified.

As part of our Trading Standards team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of work, which includes:

  • Supporting Trading Standards Officers with investigations and enforcement activity.
  • Playing a key role in enforcing tobacco and vape regulations, including tackling illicit and underage sales.
  • Advising businesses and consumers on Trading Standards legislation.
  • Gaining hands‑on experience across a broad range of consumer protection work.

With a supportive and positive working culture, Telford & Wrekin Council can offer you this exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the Trading Standards service to the residents and businesses within the borough. The team has a hybrid working pattern, initially whilst new to the role there will be an expectation of you working three – four days per week based in the office in Telford, later moving to two days (currently these days are Wednesdays and Thursdays).
