• Leading a specialist team responsible for the design, development and deployment of pricing algorithms
• Developing people, improving ways of working and strengthening collaboration across Pricing and the wider business while using your expertise to contribute to NFU Mutual’s largest transformation programme.
• 80% home working and 20% out of our Stratford Upon Avon office
About the role
Working in Pricing at NFU Mutual offers a genuinely different experience. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has a meaningful impact, supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods and enabling our UK-wide Agency Network to deliver excellent service. As the importance of pricing continues to grow, this role sits at the centre of how we deliver fair, effective and commercially sound outcomes for our customers.
As a Pricing Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the design, development and deployment of pricing algorithms into live environments, ensuring solutions are aligned to business priorities, renewal cycles and operational deadlines. You’ll work at the point where technical pricing capability meets real-world delivery, overseeing how models move from concept through testing and into production, while ensuring quality, accuracy and stability at every stage.
Leading an agile squad within the Design and Deployment function, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with leadership and coordination responsibilities. You’ll guide a team of developers, supporting both their day-to-day delivery and longer-term development, while balancing competing priorities and ensuring work is effectively planned and delivered to a high standard. The role operates across multiple teams, requiring close collaboration with stakeholders in Pricing, Underwriting, IT and other functions to ensure changes are delivered seamlessly and in line with wider business activity.
You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of pricing algorithm designs, with a strong emphasis on quality assurance and governance. This includes reviewing and approving technical outputs, overseeing testing approaches and managing risks to protect live customer rating systems. Alongside this, you’ll ensure the team’s work is effectively coordinated, adapting to changes in scope, timelines or requirements while maintaining a clear focus on delivery outcomes.
This is a highly collaborative and visible role, offering regular engagement with senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence how pricing solutions are developed and delivered. You’ll represent the Design and Deployment team in key forums, contribute to continuous improvement of tools and processes, and play an active role in shaping how the function evolves in line with industry and technology developments.
While this role includes people leadership responsibilities, it remains firmly rooted in technical expertise. You’ll be expected to bring a strong understanding of pricing algorithm development and deployment, with the ability to guide technical decisions, review complex outputs and support the delivery of robust, production-ready solutions.
(Internally, this role is called Pricing Senior Developer)

Comfortable working in a fast-paced delivery setting, you’ll be confident supporting the end-to-end development and deployment of pricing solutions while maintaining high standards of quality, governance and customer outcome focus.
You’ll also be a collaborative and engaging communicator, able to build strong relationships across both technical and non-technical teams. With strong organisational skills and a continuous improvement mindset, you’ll be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, supporting change initiatives and helping colleagues develop and succeed.
You’ll also have experience of:
• Leading, motivating and developing teams, including coaching, feedback, workflow management and delivery planning
• Designing, developing and deploying pricing algorithms within live production environments, including awareness of pricing system risk and external rating engine integration
• Using RADAR (or equivalent procedural programming languages) alongside SQL or other data interrogation tools to support pricing development activities
• Reviewing and assuring technical outputs through effective code review, software testing principles and strong quality ownership to ensure accurate and stable customer pricing
• Managing competing priorities, making informed decisions and coordinating delivery across multiple workstreams to meet deadlines and business objectives
