Here at GXO, we’re recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Manager to support our IKEA operation in Dartford. This is a full‑time, permanent role, working any 5 from 7 on a PM shift pattern (14:00 – 22:00), where you’ll play a critical role within the site leadership team, ensuring operational performance, service delivery and team engagement are consistently achieved.

What you’ll do on a typical day

  • Take full accountability for the end‑to‑end warehouse operation on shift, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer and contractual performance expectations
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Team Leaders and operational colleagues, building capability, driving engagement and embedding a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
  • Manage and optimise resource planning, including labour, equipment and workflow allocation, ensuring productivity targets and service level agreements are consistently achieved across varying volumes
  • Drive a strong health & safety culture through visible leadership, proactive risk management and full compliance with site procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all colleagues
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including customers and internal functions, proactively resolving issues and ensuring alignment to operational priorities and performance targets

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics leadership role, ideally within a high‑volume, KPI‑driven environment
  • Strong people management capability, with a track record of leading, motivating and developing teams to achieve high performance
  • Experience managing operational performance through KPIs, with the ability to interpret data and adapt plans to meet changing demands
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels
  • A proactive, resilient and solutions‑focused mindset, with the ability to manage pressure and deliver results in a fast‑moving environment
