Interface Developer Intern

Blue Oak Consulting

Blue Oak Consulting is seeking an Interface Developer Intern to design and implement clean, logical user interfaces that help our clients interact with complex financial models. We are currently advisory partners to a major UK infrastructure firm, helping them review their long-term capital allocation and identify hidden pressure points in their capital structure. This internship offers a direct opportunity to build tools that expose critical data and economic choices directly to decision-makers.

About Blue Oak Consulting

Blue Oak Consulting is an independent advisory firm focused on commercial decisions where the answer is not obvious. We help management teams and investors look past standard strategy language to see the real financial consequences of their choices. Our work centers on testing the economic logic behind pricing architecture, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We do not run large, junior-heavy teams; instead, we work on project-based engagements that require deep skepticism and a focus on what the numbers are actually hiding. We are often called in to surface hidden distortions in portfolio economics or to stress test growth plans that rely on assumptions that might be too optimistic. Because we are independent and not compensated based on transaction outcomes, we have the freedom to tell clients when the economics of a deal do not hold. We stay through the execution phase to ensure that the logic of a decision survives real-world friction. We value clarity over complexity and evidence over momentum.

The role

In this hybrid role, you will bridge the gap between back-end analysis and client-facing usability. You will work alongside our senior advisory team to turn complex economic logic and stress-testing scripts into clear, interactive web structures. Since this position follows a hybrid model, you will divide your week between working remotely and collaborating in person for our critical system design reviews. This setup ensures you learn directly from senior advisers while retaining the flexibility of remote work.

What you will be doing

  • Creating clear front-end components and dashboards to present our financial modeling and capital allocation scenarios.
  • Building simple, logical page structures that let clients test distinct downside cases and pricing architectures.
  • Translating complex datasets and economic stress-test inputs into intuitive input forms and visual elements.
  • Reviewing interface layouts with senior analysts to ensure data pathways are accurate and free of distortion.
  • Writing clean, well-tested HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to assemble responsive data views.

What we are looking for

  • Basic proficiency in modern front-end tools, particularly HTML, CSS, and structural JavaScript.
  • A clear focus on data-driven design, prioritizing raw clarity of numbers over heavy decorative styling.
  • Strong logical thinking and a healthy skepticism toward complicated data layouts.
  • The capacity to work effectively in a hybrid schedule, managing your tasks independently when remote.
  • Attention to detail, showing a professional curiosity about how users interpret financial scenarios.

What the role offers

  • Direct mentorship from senior consultants on projects with high commercial significance.
  • A paid internship with attractive compensation that reflects your contribution to our advisory projects.
  • A balanced hybrid arrangement, combining structured remote days with collaborative office interactions.
  • Practical exposure to how real corporate strategy decisions are made and analyzed.
  • High-quality equipment supplied to support your productivity at home and in the office.

Working at Blue Oak means your contributions are evaluated solely on intellectual rigor and the clarity of your output. We avoid administrative bloat and corporate buzzwords, choosing instead to focus on providing honest, objective analysis to clients making major capital investments. This internship is designed for an aspiring developer who wants to learn how business economics really work, while building interfaces that expose the truth.
