The Opportunity

At Almac Clinical Services, our engineering teams play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant operation of plant and equipment that supports the packaging and distribution of clinical trial supplies worldwide.

We are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Day Shift) to support the ongoing performance and reliability of our facilities and equipment. In this hands-on role, you will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities, helping to ensure minimal disruption to operations and maintaining the high standards required in a GMP-regulated environment.

Working closely with Production and Equipment teams, youll troubleshoot issues, support improvements and contribute to the continuous development of plant performance. Youll also play a key role in maintaining environmental conditions through HVAC and building management systems, ensuring our facilities operate safely and effectively at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities on plant and equipment
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance of HVAC and building management systems
  • Troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues alongside production teams
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation in line with GMP
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and equipment performance reviews
  • Managing spare parts and liaising with external contractors when required
  • Supporting projects, including commissioning of new or modified equipment

What you need to be successful

To succeed in this role, you will bring previous experience within a maintenance or engineering environment, ideally within a manufacturing or regulated setting. You will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline (or time served)
  • Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Fault-finding and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively

Desirable criteria include:

  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, food or chemical industries

This role reports to the Plant Supervisor and forms part of the wider Plant & Equipment team supporting operations in Craigavon.

The role may involve on-call duties and occasional overtime or call-out support as required by the business.
