We’re recruiting an Accountant/Finance Business Partner as we strengthen our financial capability and continue to develop a modern, proactive and high‑performing Finance service.
In this role, you’ll support the Council’s financial stability and long‑term sustainability through robust budgeting, financial reporting and effective business partnering. You’ll provide accurate, timely and insightful information that strengthens governance and underpins sound decision‑making.
Working with service managers, budget holders and project leads, you’ll give clear, practical advice and constructive challenge to improve budget management, forecasting and financial control. You’ll help services understand and respond to financial risks, pressures and opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be comfortable analysing financial data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and translating complex financial information into clear, practical advice for non‑finance colleagues.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to build constructive working relationships across the organisation.
- Be CCAB qualified, part‑qualified, or AAT qualified with relevant experience in a busy finance environment.
- Have knowledge of local authority financial management including accounting and budgeting practices and procedures.
- Be able to deliver work at the appropriate level for the career grade applied for.
- Have strong Excel skills and confidence using financial systems and digital tools.
