We are seeking a proactive and detail orientated Procurement Officer to join our team. In this role, you will undertake a range of procurement activities relating to the acquisition of goods and services, ensuring the Force receives best value while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and internal procedures. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will play a key role in delivering an effective, efficient procurement service that directly supports operational delivery and strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting end to end procurement processes, from sourcing and tendering through to contract management and supplier engagement. You will contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring robust governance, transparency, and value for money across all procurement activity. What you’ll do
- Develop business cases, specifications, and tender documentation in line with procurement regulations and best practice.
- Conduct market research to identify suppliers and secure best value while ensuring fair competition.
- Provide expert procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders in line with organisational policy.
- Support and lead tendering activities, including supplier engagement and contract negotiations.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective procurement and contract delivery.
- Manage a portfolio of contracts, monitoring performance, KPIs, compliance, and social value outcomes.
What you’ll bring
- Working towards (or willing to work towards) a professional procurement qualification (MCIPS).
- Basic understanding of procurement principles, including sourcing, tendering, and contract management.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to use initiative and deliver practical solutions.
- Confident communicator, able to engage and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other systems, with experience of report writing and data handling.

Terms of appointment
This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
