Maintenance Assistant

Arden College

Arden College are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join their maintenance team!

We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within our sites and their grounds. You will also assist in liaising with contractors when on site and ad-hoc requests from management as and when necessary.

About the college

Arden College is situated on 3 sites, including a Café in Southport and Banks on the North West coast of Sefton and Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. Arden is a specialist college for students aged 16-25 with autism and complex barriers to learning. The college works in line with the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda in promoting the independence skills, health, employability and community inclusion of the students.

What you'll be doing

  • Helping keep things running smoothly by providing maintenance support across our two college sites and café
  • Carrying out health and safety duties - helping to ensure a safe, tidy, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors
  • Getting stuck into a variety of reactive, day-to-day maintenance tasks across buildings and grounds
  • We’re looking for a practical handyperson who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting things fixed
  • Working alongside contractors when they’re on site and lend a helping hand where needed
  • Supporting with ad-hoc requests from management - no two days will be the same!

You might have experience in some of the following (but it’s not essential):

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical work
  • Carpentry
  • Plastering
  • Qualifications are desirable (but not essential) - practical experience and a can-do attitude matter most
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites and managing your own workload
  • A proactive problem-solver who takes pride in their work
