Rights Clearance Officer

University of Liverpool

This is a perfect time to join the team in Libraries, Museums and Galleries, as we take forward an exciting programme of work to improve access to our unique Special Collections and Archives in support of the University’s Strategy 2031. This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and is available for 12 months.

Libraries, Museums and Galleries are seeking a Rights Clearance Officer to support a major digitisation project focused on the Olaf Stapledon archive, part of our internationally significant Science Fiction Collections.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enabling wider access to unique archival materials. Reporting to the Copyright and Licensing Manager, you will be responsible for assessing copyright status, identifying and contacting rights holders, and securing permissions for digitisation and online access. You will undertake detailed research, including genealogical investigation where required, and maintain accurate records to support a large-scale, time-limited project.

You will have excellent research and analytical skills, a relevant understanding of copyright and information management, and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet project deadlines. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Please see the attached Role Description for the full Duties, Responsibilities and Person Specification.

Interviews anticipated to take place in August 2026 subject to change.
