Role Overview

This contractual position requires a skilled Chef to prepare meals for a high-volume, on-site dining program serving staff, faculty, and visitors at a major institution. The role focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality meals while adhering to dietary guidelines and operational standards. This work supports the daily functioning of the institution by ensuring reliable food service for a diverse user base.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus in alignment with institutional dietary standards and seasonal availability.

• Oversee food preparation, portion control, and plating to maintain consistency across service periods.

• Manage inventory of perishable and non-perishable ingredients, coordinating with procurement to minimize waste and costs.

• Train and supervise kitchen staff in food safety protocols, including sanitation, cross-contamination prevention, and storage procedures.

• Collaborate with facility management to align meal service with event schedules, dietary restrictions, and sustainability initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of professional chef experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment.

• Valid food handler certification and compliance with local health department regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to manage food costs and inventory within a budgeted framework.

• Strong leadership skills to direct a small kitchen team during peak service hours.

• Experience designing menus that accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-sensitive diets.
