Dancers Call Out

Bradford Culture Company is seeking 3 professional dancers or physical performers based in West Yorkshire to take part in Efectos Especiales, a site-specific performance created by Luciana Acuña & Alejo Moguillansky (Argentina) at Bradford Festival 2026.

Efectos Especiales is a site-specific performance blending film, dance and theatre through a cinematic journey across the city.

This outdoor performance takes place along Bradford’s city centre streets and is made up of three live film takes. Each dancer will perform to camera and a live audience over a distance of around 300 metres. They will be accompanied by special effects that include water, smoke and snow.

Performer Specification

We are looking for Bradford District or West Yorkshire based professional performers who can demonstrate the following:

• Extensive professional experience in physical performance, contemporary dance, street dance or parkour. All round performance and physical acting skills.
• Physically fit and able to move at speed for 100m
• Collaborative and adaptable
• Open to working outdoors and in site-specific/ non-traditional contexts.

We are keen to hear from performers of all ages and genders.

Required Commitment

• Early July 2026: Online introductory meeting with creative team (approx 1 hour)
• Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 July 2026: Rehearsals & development
• Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July 2026: Performances (2 performances on Saturday 1 on Sunday)

Locations in Bradford City Centre.

Call times may vary but you will need to be available for all days listed)

Fee

A total performer fee of £1,000 to include rehearsals, development & performances.

This is offered as a freelance self-employed contract.

• An up-to-date CV (maximum 2 pages) OR a short personal statement outlining your background & experience
• A short video (no longer than 2-3mins) of you dancing (any physical choreography of your choice) or footage useful for the purposes of casting. (e.g. a showreel, performance film) up to 5min. NB videos do not have to be professionally filmed. If you are sharing performance footage, please ensure that you are clearly identifiable.
• An Instagram, website or social media profile if it contains good examples of your movement/ performance work (optional).

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by the Efectos Especiales creative team. Casting will be based on suitability for the style of performance and the balance with other performers across movement style, age, background, gender identity and lived experience.
