Job Purpose
- You will be part of an experienced team responsible for the Manufacturer, Repair or Modification of Units and Products in a workshop manufacturing environment at Cullum, Heanor site and on a customer site.
- To produce a consistently high standard of all areas of fabrication work meeting deadlines and inclusive hour targets.
- Carry out daily and weekly Operational machinery checks and report any faults immediately.
- Carry out daily and weekly Operational PPE checks and report any faults immediately.
- To carry out instructions from the Manufacturing Foreman & Production Manager in all aspects of the role, including the personal control of job time bookings and document control in respect of drawings and quality plans.
- To pre check all work at various stages of a build, ensuring it is as per the design requirements and specification.
- To carry out site works when required, promoting the company as a professional organisation committed to supporting the industry.
- To travel domestically and (occasionally) abroad in support of the company’s sub-contract network and site installation commitments
- To be compliant with Quality, Health Safety & Environmental standards and CDM Standards when working on sites.
- To assist in other areas of Operations when required to help the smooth running of jobs through the department.
JOB ACTIVITIES
- To carry out fabrication work under the direct instruction of the manufacturing shopfloor Foreman to meet cost and delivery targets.
- To identify and, where possible, offer solutions to fabrication.
- To assist in planning, to identify and, where possible, offer solutions to operational issues.
- Wherever possible in the continual development of the AGS and Cullum Product, supporting lessons learnt and the implementation of any recommended changes.
- To maintain currency and competency in accordance with all activities necessary to fulfil the role and to maintain a passport and the ability to travel abroad as required.
- Ensure the workplace and area is cleared by you, during and after each shift, in line and compliant with H&S.
- To Identify opportunities to grow the company business in the customer environment identifying remedial work, repairs, preventative or maintenance tasks and to present the company and its capabilities in a professional manner to secure follow-on contracts.
- Some foreign travel maybe required.
- Lead by example on matters of Health Safety & Environmental, Welfare and codes of conduct.
- To support mentoring and or coaching of our apprentices during their development.
- Identify and suggest areas of improvement within the plating, welding, fabrication & role.
- Work under your own initiative and on occasion may be expected to guide and/or supervise staff.
- Work to attain optimum performance within the Operations Department and associated areas of responsibility.
- Ensure that the Production Manager is informed of major developments and/or problems within the Team, its supply chain, and customers, supporting on time delivery.

Education/Qualifications
Essential
- City & Guilds or equivalent in a relevant Welding qualification.
- NVQ Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
- Formal coded welding qualifications
Experience
Essential
- Able to work with Thicknesses of gauge - 3mm to 20mm, Mild Steel, Stainless, Cromweld & Chromalloy.
- Competent in welding MIG, TIG & MMA
- Two years’ experience in a plating or welding role
- Evidence of previous welding training or qualification
- CDM 2015 Awareness
Desirable
- Previous Customer Site working.
- Ability to Stick Weld in mild and stainless steel and aluminium.
