As part of the School’s leadership team, you will shape the technical strategy, lead capability development, and ensure the School’s infrastructure supports an ambitious programme of growth in teaching, research, and external engagement.
The Context
The School sits at the heart of a rapidly evolving, interdisciplinary environment spanning engineering, robotics, computer science, mathematics, and physics. With significant investment in facilities, research capability, and student experience, the University is well-positioned for further growth.
The Technical Manager will play a central role in translating this ambition into operational excellence, ensuring that people, systems, and environments are aligned to deliver at scale, leading a team with diverse skillsets aligned to the School’s broad interdisciplinary environment.
The Role

- Act as a trusted advisor to academics and leadership on infrastructure, investment, and capability
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and efficiency across technical services
- Ensure rigorous health, safety, and compliance frameworks in a complex environment
The Individual
We are seeking a credible and forward-looking leader with the ability to operate confidently at senior level.
You will bring:

- Experience of managing complex operations, resources, and multi-disciplinary teams
- The ability to influence, challenge and partner with senior academic stakeholders
- Commercial awareness, including exposure to capital investment, procurement, or research environments
- A clear commitment to developing people, capability, and culture
Above all, you will combine strategic insight with operational delivery, and the judgement to navigate competing priorities in a dynamic academic setting.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to:
- Take on a visible leadership role within a forward-thinking School
- Shape the technical infrastructure underpinning cutting-edge research and teaching
- Influence long-term investment and capability development
- Join an institution with a strong trajectory and clear ambition
