We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. The Role
As a Buyer within the Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA), you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station by securing the materials, equipment and services required for complex ground‑engineering works.
Working within a collaborative alliance environment, you will manage end‑to‑end procurement activity, ensuring value, compliance and performance across the supply chain. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your procurement career on a major infrastructure project.
What You'll Be Doing
- End‑to‑End Procurement: Manage the full procurement lifecycle, from early supplier engagement and sourcing strategy through to tendering, award and supplier management, ensuring best‑value outcomes.
- Sourcing & Tendering: Conduct market research and run RFIs, RFQs and ITTs using e‑procurement systems (e.g. Jaggaer), carrying out tender evaluations and making award recommendations based on total cost of ownership.
- Supplier & Category Management: Build and manage supplier relationships, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement across key categories.
- Commercial & Operational Support: Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with governance, quality and project requirements, while supporting fast‑paced delivery with short lead times.
- Market Insight & Sustainability: Monitor supply markets to identify risks, opportunities and innovation, while supporting sustainability, environmental, ED&I and Zero Harm objectives across the supply chain.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project, technical and operational teams to understand requirements and deliver a responsive, value‑adding procurement service.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience across the full procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, tendering and supplier management
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills, with confidence reviewing quotes and cost data
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Proactive, solution‑focused mindset with the ability to identify improvements and add value
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
Desirable
- Experience within construction, civils or engineering supply chains
- Familiarity with procurement systems such as SAP or Jaggaer
- CIPS qualification, or working towards / willingness to develop professionally
