Reuse Sales Assistant required at Norwich South Recycling Centre

Norse Environmental Waste Services (NEWS) are the waste and refuse management function for Norse Group, providing a full collection service across the local region. As well as this, we also provide a Resuse where we look to sell items donated to the centre from the public.,
As we continue to deliver our frontline waste and recycling services across East Anglia, we currently seek a Reuse Sales Assistant to join our Reuse Shop team.
Main Responsibilities of a Reuse Sales Assistant
- To be presentable and professional at all times when dealing with the public.
- Advise and assist members of the public with items specifically donated or identified by site staff with potential for reuse.
- Keep the reuse area and shop tidy, clean and safe for use by the public.
- Basic safety testing of electrical items intended for reuse (training will be provided)
- Pricing items for sale.
- Selling items directly to the public from re-use shop or via internet sales.
- Reporting of sales figures / cash taken.
- Handling cash, card and electronic payments.
- Ensuring the shop is suitably stocked with items for sale on display
- Report any near misses/accidents or incidents.
- Travel to other recycling centres and reuse shops at times, if/when needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
- Experience in a similar shop-based sales assistant role.
- Experience in dealing with the public and cash handling
- Good customer service skills.
- To be able to identify value in pre-owned items brought to the recycling centre and suitable for reuse.
- Able to undertake basic safety inspection of pre-owned items suitable for reuse and complete records. (training will be given)
- Able to manually move and lift the reusable items through the reuse process.
