The role of Estates Caretaker

  • Carry out health and safety daily checks on low-rise and high-rise blocks
  • Cleaning of communal areas, litter picking, and removal of rubbish
  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs across designated properties
  • Perform routine inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs
  • Respond promptly to urgent property-related issues
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repair or maintenance tasks
  • Monitor and manage waste disposal and recycling processes
  • Maintain accurate records of completed tasks and report issues to management
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

The ideal Estates Caretaker

  • Previous experience in property maintenance or a similar role in the public sector
  • Good reading and writing skills — required for recording and reporting information
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations for property management
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks
  • Good communication skills to liaise with management and contractors
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable time-keeping essential
