Your Role
At Ravenscliffe High School, our students are at the heart of everything we do; and so are the people who support them.
We are looking for Teaching Assistants who bring warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to support young people with a wide range of additional needs. Whether you’ve worked in education before or you’re looking to build a meaningful new career path, what matters most to us is your outlook, your values, and your willingness to grow.
We have full time, part time and maternity cover positions available to start with us in September for the 2026/27 academic year. If you would like to be considered for a part-time position, please indicate this at the relevant point in the application process.
Who We Are
Ravenscliffe is a dynamic and ambitious specialist school for 11–19 year olds with a wide range of SEND. Our students are vibrant, funny, complex, individual and brilliant; and every day is shaped by helping them achieve personal success in a way that is meaningful to them.
Everything we do at school underpins our vision and values: to nurture, believe, achieve and succeed. We pride ourselves on raising aspirations and maximising the potential of every student. This enables all students to thrive and prepare for a happy, successful and bright future.
Our Teaching Assistants play a vital role in this. They support communication, learning, independence, social development, emotional wellbeing, and daily routines. Most importantly, they help create a school environment that feels safe, happy, and full of possibility.
What the Role Involves
You'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students in lessons and small groups. You’ll assist us in:
- Helping students access learning based on their individual needs.
- Offering encouragement, reassurance and structure so students can learn with confidence.
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Providing personal care, postural management and other interventions.
- Using creative approaches; practical, sensory, visual, or tech based in order to help students engage in a way that is right for them.
- Contributing to a calm learning environment.
- Building trusting and professional relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Celebrating progress and achievements, however big or small.
No two days are the same, and you'll be part of a friendly, skilled and highly supportive staff team who work closely together and look after one another.
Who We’re Looking For
The Job Description and Person Specification outline the full requirements of the role, but in short, we're hoping to meet people who:
- Are kind, patient, and genuinely enjoy working with young people.
- Communicate clearly and sensitively.
- Can stay calm under pressure and adapt as situations change.
- Work well as part of a team, but also use initiative.
- Are reliable, professional and committed to inclusive practice.
- Are willing to learn, reflect and grow.
- Can meet the physical demands of the role with appropriate training.
- Bring positivity and a sense of humour to their work.
A British Sign Language qualification is desirable, and additional remuneration may be offered to candidates who can demonstrate competence in this area.
What We Offer
- A caring, inclusive school community where every staff member is valued.
- A highly skilled, warm and collaborative team environment.
- Comprehensive training to help you develop confidence and expertise.
- Health and wellbeing support for all colleagues through Schools Mutual.
- A role where your contribution makes a genuine difference every single day.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you want a role where you are valued and where your contribution truly matters, and where you can help young people grow in confidence, independence, and happiness we would love you to apply.
