Assistant Driller

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Assistant Driller to join our expanding ground investigation field team. This is a hands-on, site-based role involving regular travel to locations across the UK. You should expect to stay away from home during the working week. You’ll support drilling operations on a variety of projects, working closely with an experienced team to deliver high‑quality geotechnical investigation services while maintaining strong safety and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in operating drilling rigs and associated plant
• Carry out drilling and general fieldwork in line with company standards
• Support the Lead Driller with on-site activities
• Ensure samples are taken, labelled, stored, and transported correctly
• Maintain rigs, equipment, and vehicles
• Promote a safe, organised, and compliant work environment
• Conduct site visits and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
• Represent the company professionally on-site

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE

Regular Travel and Staying Away

• This is a UK‑wide role
• Frequent overnight stays Monday–Friday are standard

Physical, Outdoor Work

• The job involves manual labour and working outdoors in all weather conditions

Long Hours at Times

• Early starts, late finishes, and extended days are common on some projects
• Overtime is available and can significantly increase earnings

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Full UK Driving Licence
• CSCS Card (preferable)
• 0–3 years of experience
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• A proactive, safety-first approach
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel
• A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
