ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Assistant Driller to join our expanding ground investigation field team. This is a hands-on, site-based role involving regular travel to locations across the UK. You should expect to stay away from home during the working week. You’ll support drilling operations on a variety of projects, working closely with an experienced team to deliver high‑quality geotechnical investigation services while maintaining strong safety and operational standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in operating drilling rigs and associated plant
- Carry out drilling and general fieldwork in line with company standards
- Support the Lead Driller with on-site activities
- Ensure samples are taken, labelled, stored, and transported correctly
- Maintain rigs, equipment, and vehicles
- Promote a safe, organised, and compliant work environment
- Conduct site visits and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
- Represent the company professionally on-site
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE
Regular Travel and Staying Away
- This is a UK‑wide role
- Frequent overnight stays Monday–Friday are standard
Physical, Outdoor Work
- The job involves manual labour and working outdoors in all weather conditions
Long Hours at Times
- Early starts, late finishes, and extended days are common on some projects
- Overtime is available and can significantly increase earnings
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Full UK Driving Licence
- CSCS Card (preferable)
- 0–3 years of experience
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A proactive, safety-first approach
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
