Purpose for Fixed Term: Internal secondment
This post is appointed on a fixed-term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum

We are seeking an experienced and motivated clinician with experience within the Medical Education team to take on the role of Deputy Director of Medical Education.
This role will work closely alongside the Director of Medical Education ensuring high standards of training, supporting residents and their trainers and fostering a positive learning environment. The individual will have responsibility for coordinating and delivering the in-house Educational Supervisor course.

Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Must already hold a role within the DME team
- Experience in delivery of training for Educational Supervisors
- Track record of Educational Supervision
- Experience of the organisation of postgraduate and undergraduate education
- Understanding of NHS structure and processes
- Experience of working with students or doctors in an educational setting
- Experience of managing a multi-professional team
Desirable criteria
- University Higher degree
- Educational Qualification
- Experience of educational Leadership and Education
- Evidence of submitting work for Peer Review
- Experience of supervising a locally employed doctor
Aptitudes and skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
- Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
- Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).
- Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Understanding of the training requirements for Educational Supervisors
