Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with experience in UK–EU freight operations, customs-sensitive cargo and multimodal transport will be given preference.

FF Customs & Logistics is an established UK logistics and customs brokerage company providing road, sea and air freight solutions across the UK, Europe and international markets.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Freight Forwarder to join our team.

Important

Applications will only be considered from candidates with a minimum of 5 years of verifiable Freight Forwarding experience.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record within the freight forwarding industry.

The Role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Freight Forwarder capable of managing freight movements from quotation through to final delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating shipments, supporting customers, building relationships with carriers and ensuring smooth day-to-day logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

Freight Operations

  • Organising road, sea and air freight shipments
  • Managing import and export movements
  • Coordinating transport across the UK, Europe and worldwide
  • Liaising with hauliers, shipping lines, airlines and overseas agents
  • Monitoring shipments and resolving operational issues

Customer Service

  • Managing customer accounts
  • Providing regular shipment updates
  • Building long-term customer relationships
  • Supporting business growth through exceptional service

Commercial Activities

  • Preparing quotations
  • Negotiating rates with carriers and suppliers
  • Monitoring shipment profitability
  • Identifying opportunities for additional services

Documentation & Compliance

  • Reviewing transport documentation
  • Understanding customs requirements affecting freight movements
  • Ensuring documentation accuracy
  • Identifying potential compliance risks

Essential Requirements

Minimum 5 years of verifiable Freight Forwarding experience

Strong knowledge of

  • Road Freight
  • Sea Freight
  • Air Freight
  • UK & European transport operations
  • International shipping documentation
  • Incoterms 2020

Excellent knowledge of

  • Customer service
  • Freight quotations
  • Carrier management
  • Operational problem solving

Strong commercial awareness

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work independently

Desirable

  • Experience within customs-related logistics environments
  • Understanding of UK customs procedures and transit movements
  • Knowledge of GVMS and border processes
  • Experience working with freight management systems

What We Are NOT Looking For

This is not a Customs Declarant position.

The successful candidate is not expected to complete customs declarations but should understand how customs procedures, border formalities and compliance requirements impact freight movements and customer operations.
