Corporate, Commercial & IP Paralegal/Trainee Solicitor

Berry Smith LLP

4 June 2026

We are seeking a motivated, commercially minded and ambitious individual to join our Corporate, Commercial and Intellectual Property teams as a Paralegal, starting in September 2026.

Summary

  • Location: Cardiff Office
  • Salary: Competitive

Job type: Full time (part-time considered alongside legal studies)

The successful candidate will initially undertake a 6–12-month paralegal role, with the view to progressing towards a trainee solicitor position, subject to performance.

We offer our trainees the SQE route to qualification in addition to the traditional training contract option for those who have completed the Legal Practice Course. We envisage the role being full time, but we would consider applicants wishing to work part-time to accommodate any legal studies.

Here at Berry Smith, we are keen to invest in our trainees as they are the future of the firm. A large proportion of the team have trained at Berry Smith and have been retained upon qualification.

During your training period with us you will work directly with the partners and will also aid other solicitors within the team on a variety of matters.

We encourage our trainees to have client contact from an early stage to develop and build confidence and client relationships. We provide our trainees with the opportunity to take part in a variety of marketing and social events throughout the year to enable them to meet other likeminded people and to develop their contacts within the Cardiff professional network.
