We are looking for 1:1 Learning Support Assistants (LSA) to support one of our children with additional needs, starting in September 2026. This is a full-time position, with typical hours of 8:00 am – 3:20 pm.

The role involves supporting a child with an EHCP who requires additional provision in school to support their learning.

The 1:1 Learning Support Assistant will work closely with the child’s class teacher and our Assistant Headteachers to ensure that the provision for the pupil is in line with that of other children and that their needs are fully met.

No two days are the same, but on a typical day you will:

  • Meet and greet the child/ren to ensure a positive transition from home to school;
  • Make the child/ren feel safe, happy, and cared for at school;
  • Follow the child/ren’s Three Point Behaviour Plan so that they are treated consistently by all staff;
  • Adapt the teacher’s plan to cater for the needs of the pupil/s in your care;
  • Communicate with parents/carers when the child/ren is/are collected;
  • Provide specialist care;
  • Support at breakfast club and lunchtimes, ensuring positive behaviour both in the school hall and on the playground;
  • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children at Merton.
