Actual salary: £20,485 per annum for 24 hours per week (4 days)

Hours: 24 hours per week, worked over 4 days (9:30am – 4:30pm).

Contract type: Permanent

Annual Leave: 28 days plus Bank Holidays (part time pro-rata)

Pension: 7% (If you pay at least 1% salary contribution into the stakeholder scheme we will top this up to the required 8%)

About the role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and supportive Training and Support Officer to lead the development of our volunteers and advisers. You’ll be helping them gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge to deliver high-quality advice to people across our community.

You’ll:

  • Deliver and coordinate training, workshops, and one-to-one mentoring
  • Support advice sessions, offering guidance and stepping in to advise clients when needed
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, induction, and development
  • Promote a positive learning culture and maintain service quality

While advice experience is desirable, your main strength will be your ability to coach, train, and empower others.

About you

You will have:

  • Experience in training, mentoring, or coaching in a workplace, education, or voluntary setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A positive and encouraging approach to learning
  • Organisational skills to manage varied tasks and priorities
  • Experience in a customer-facing or community role
  • Confidence in using IT systems and online learning tools

The interview process

Interviews will take place in two parts:

  • A short presentation/workshop (10–15 minutes) – Topic: Deliver a short workshop for new volunteers on “Active Listening Skills in Client Interviews”. The aim is to show how you would make training engaging, inclusive, and confidence-building.
  • Panel interview – where we’ll explore your skills, experience, and approach in more depth.

Pay: £29,873.00 per year
