Visiting Carer

Job overview

This is a permanent, part-time visiting care position offering 10-20 hours per week. The role involves providing personal care, practical support and companionship to an 83-year-old client with dementia who is physically fit and living independently at home in Stogumber. The successful candidate will be a friendly, chatty and positive person with patience and ideally previous experience supporting people with dementia.

Key responsibilities

The carer will visit the client's home and provide support with the following:

• Help with dressing and some personal hygiene.
• Help preparing meals
• Household tasks including cleaning and laundry
• Companionship and friendly conversation
• Helping with a morning local walk around the village with the client's dog

Age: 83

Medical conditions: Dementia

Physical health: Very physically fit

Household: Pet owner with one friendly dog

Work environment

Smoke-free home. Client is a pet owner.

Requirements

• Fluent spoken English
• Patience and kindness
• Previous experience supporting people with dementia (desirable)
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Ability to provide positive companionship and lighten the mood

Working pattern

• 10-20 hours per week
• Mornings: 8:30am or 9:00am to 11:00am or 12:00pm
• Weekdays (weekends also possible if interested)
