Shape the next generation of professional bus drivers and lead the team that makes it happen.

We’re looking for an inspiring leader to take charge of our Classroom Training function, owning everything that happens inside our Training Centres. From induction to post ‑ test development, CPC delivery to assessment oversight, you’ll be at the heart of how we build confident, capable, and customer ‑ focused drivers.

What you’ll do

Lead our Classroom Training Team

  • Role ‑ model high standards and build a motivated, high ‑ performing team of trainers.

  • Allocate daily resources and ensure consistent classroom coverage.

  • Coach, develop and support trainers, maintaining performance and development records.

  • Conduct initial fact ‑ finding for HR ‑ related issues and escalate appropriately.

Deliver Outstanding Training

  • Deliver CPC and other classroom courses aligned to business needs.

  • Run engaging inductions and workshops for new drivers and engineers, including follow ‑ up reviews.

  • Keep all training content accurate , current and compliant with legislative and operational changes.

  • Train staff on customer service, inclusion, diversity, ticketing, service control and all TfL ‑ defined operating procedures.

  • Support garage ‑ based interventions such as roadshows and workshops.

Oversee Assessments & Awarding Body Standards

  • Deliver and invigilate PCV theory tests and assessments in line with DVSA and awarding body requirements.

  • Ensure invigilation processes are always audit ‑ ready .

  • Support BTEC/awarding body tasks, including workplace observations.

Drive Compliance, Records & KPIs

  • Maintain accurate classroom records, including attendance, assessments and portfolio tracking.

  • Support scheduling, communications and other classroom administration.

  • Report on CPC and classroom KPIs, identifying trends, risks and improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with HSWA, COSHH, working time regulations and all company policies.

Collaborate & Continuously Improve

  • Liaise with examiners and stakeholders to promote courses and coordinate interventions.

  • Feed insights into wider training reviews and improvement projects.

  • Use learner feedback and assessment results to enhance delivery and standards.

  • Build strong working relationships across garages and Head Office.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in a driver training function, ideally within public transport or a regulated fleet environment.

  • Strong understanding of DVSA, DVLA, TfL and PCV licensing requirements.

  • Confident communicator able to influence at all levels.

  • Competent with Excel, Word and email.

  • Experience managing performance, welfare, sickness and HR processes.

  • Ability to plan ahead and thrive in a busy, deadline ‑ driven environment.

  • Up ‑ to ‑ date knowledge of UK/EU legislative changes relevant to the role.
