Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two
Dietitians based at Ayrshire Central Hospital. These posts are offered on a permanent basis .
Hours
Post 1: Up to 36 hours per week.
Post 2: 18 hours per week.
Flexible working patterns are available and considered.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
Within the North Community Dietetic Team, the post holders will deliver a highquality specialist dietetic service, providing expert clinical assessment, intervention, education and support to patients and their carers. The role includes responsibility for comprehensive patient assessment, case management, treatment planning and coordinated discharge for adults with complex rehabilitation and longterm health needs.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing specialist dietetic assessment and evidencebased treatment for adults with complex and multiple health conditions.
- Managing a diverse caseload autonomously, developing, implementing and adapting individualised nutrition care plans.
- Offering expert clinical input for a range of specialist areas, including malnutrition, diabetes, neurological conditions, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, and dysphagia.
- Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and alongside multiagency partners to ensure coordinated care and safe, effective discharge planning.
- Maintaining accurate, highquality clinical documentation and contributing to audit, service improvement and clinical governance activity.
- Supporting the daytoday delivery of the Dietetic Service, including supervision and development of junior staff and students.
- Delivering education and training to patients, carers and other health and social care professionals.

Essential
Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:
- Degree/Diploma (or equivalent) in Dietetics
- Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Dietetic Association (BDA)
- Relevant experience in a range of specialties and settings
- Robust knowledge of nutritional support, including artificial feeding.
- Knowledge of relevant National Clinical & Professional Strategies/Standards & Guidelines
- Effective communication skills
- Current full driving licence
- Ability to work autonomously
Desirable
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working with patients with neurological conditions
- Experience of effecting change through quality improvement methodology
- Knowledge of IT systems
