Role Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to provide sample management expertise and technical support across both small and large molecule projects within the Early Discovery portfolio. The role involves the execution, coordination, and continuous improvement of sample management workflows, ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of samples to scientific teams. This position requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, and experience with laboratory automation systems, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibiltites
- Manage end-to-end sample lifecycle, including receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution of compounds.
- Fulfil sample requests using inventory management systems with high accuracy and traceability.
- Handle, store, and retrieve solid compounds in line with defined procedures.
- Perform precise weighing of compounds to meet scientific requirements.
- Prepare, reformat, and deliver liquid samples using automated and manual techniques.
- Operate complex laboratory automation platforms for sample processing and distribution.
- Provide first-line troubleshooting, issue reporting, and resolution for automation systems.
- Perform routine quality control checks to ensure sample integrity and workflow accuracy.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, including balances and automation instruments.
- Generate reports and track metrics to monitor operational KPIs and SLAs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all sample management activities.
- Liaise with third-party vendors for equipment servicing and technical support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of samples.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across sample management workflows.
Minimim Requirements
- Experience in sample management, laboratory operations, or a related scientific field.
- Strong understanding of: Inventory management system, aample storage and retrieval processes, and laboratory automation platforms.
- Hands-on experience with weighing, compound handling, and liquid sample preparation.
- Familiarity with calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational capability.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences) or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or research environments.
- Familiarity with automation platforms and digital laboratory systems.
- Proven track record of delivering technical responsibilities within a laboratory or operational environment.
- Experience working in a regulated or quality-driven setting is highly desirable.
- Exposure to both small and large molecule workflows is advantageous.
