About the role

This role sits within Business Services, Route Services at Network Rail. Business Services is made up of two sub-business units, including Training, which is focused on developing our people. The Training function delivers high-quality learning and development opportunities, enabling colleagues to build capability, enhance performance, and progress in their careers. By supporting continuous professional development, the team plays a key role in driving individual and organisational success.

  • Contract type: permanent

  • Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

  • Band & Salary : £28,000.00 per annum Band 5

  • Location : Doncaster Training Centre

  • Working pattern : Hybrid working: this role permits hybrid working, employees are expected to work from a Network Rail location for 60% of their weekly hours, typically 3 days for full time roles, pro-rata for part-time.

Main responsibilities

  • Produce a robust training delivery plan to accommodate all Network Rail Training Catalogues and meet annual key performance indicators and customer demand in conjunction with delegates and training team members.
  • Maximise trainer and venue utilisation through regular reporting, monitoring and collaboration with delegates and training team members. Consider the health and wellbeing of trainers and customers when producing the training plan.
  • Actively support delivery of the Planning and Administration volumes and annual Key Performance Indicators.
  • Understand approved supplier frameworks and adhere to framework policy when liaising with external training suppliers to procure services to meet training demand in line with customer budgets.
  • Forecast the cost of the training delivery plan against customer budgets and monitor records of expenditure on external suppliers to identify risks to the training delivery team.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers, colleagues in the Planning and Administration and delivery team to offer a seamless and consistent service to training delivery teams and customers.
  • Act as a contact point for the central P&A team & liaise with Central team on behalf of delivery to resolve local planning concerns/issues.
  • Support with reactive changes to the training delivery plan, supporting the Training Delivery Manager with the smooth/efficient running of courses and day-to-day support activities within the Centre- including ordering of equipment or co-ordinating 3rd party Trainers on site,
  • Support the Training Support Manager with Regional/Route requests or delivery schedule changes,
  • Propose and support improvements to the Planning and Administration system to deliver an effective, efficient, customer focussed, flexible and agile planning service. Escalating where applicable.
  • The post holder may be required to cover multiple locations.

  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Understanding of the railway competence management system
  • Demonstrable experience of logistic planning
