Cardiff and Vale College is looking for an exceptional and forward-thinking leader to join us as Head of Quality & Teaching and Learning.
This is a key leadership role at the heart of the College, where you will drive excellence across teaching, learning, assessment, quality, and exams—ensuring outstanding outcomes for learners across FE, HE, WBL and ACL provision.
About the role
As Head of Department, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership, shaping and delivering a high-quality learning experience across the College. You will:
- Lead and embed outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices across all curriculum areas
- Drive continuous quality improvement and ensure readiness for external inspection and frameworks (including Medr, Estyn and QAA)
- Oversee the College’s quality cycle and performance monitoring, using data to inform decision making and raise standards
- Lead the Exams function, ensuring full compliance with awarding body and JCQ requirements
- Champion innovation in pedagogy, digital learning, and inclusive teaching practices
- Lead and develop staff, creating a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive culture
About you
We’re looking for a confident and inspirational leader who can influence at all levels and drive meaningful change. You will bring:
- Significant leadership experience within Further Education
- A strong track record in improving quality and teaching & learning
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and act on complex data
- Outstanding people management and communication skills
- A genuine passion for delivering the best outcomes for learners
A teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) and a commitment to ongoing professional development are essential.
