St Leger Homes are recruiting 2 Housing Officers on temporary contracts.

There are 2 posts, one to work 18.5 hours per week for 5 months, and the other to work 22.5 hours per week for 9 months, working days are flexible and to be agreed with successful candidates. Position is within Housing Services in the East Area Team based at the Vermuyden Centre, Thorne. The successful candidates will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive Service that includes all aspects of tenancy and estate management including dealing with breaches of tenancy conditions and anti-social behaviour.

The work involves liaising with partners within the geographical area in particular officers within the Safer Neighbourhood Teams, to contribute to reducing crime and disorder along with sustaining tenancies and creating strong and vibrant communities. The job involves visiting tenants in their homes on a daily basis and attending local meetings with partners and the public and completing regular estate walks.

We are looking for someone with a sound knowledge of housing and estate management, a knowledge of legislation surrounding housing and tenancy management, and the legal grounds for enforcing tenancy conditions.

You will require a good understanding of the principles of Customer Care, be IT literate and have experience of updating computerised record systems, and of keeping detailed and accurate records.

The postholder should possess the following skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both face to face and over the telephone
  • Good written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills including the ability to plan and prioritise work load in order to meet targets/timescales
  • Experience of lone working and dealing with challenging situations

The 5 month position is to commence in June 2026 and the 9 month position is to commence in July 2026
