LOCATION: Cardiff - Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £33,900 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is an opportunity to be part of the BBC Sport Wales team covering sporting stories from across Wales.

This role will involve managing and coordinating the BBC Sport Wales social media channels as well as producing content for them. Covering sport in the country on a national and domestic basis and helping shape the growth on these platforms.

We’re looking for an ambitious journalist, who is keen to ensure the BBC remains at the heart of the local conversation.

Within this role you will be able to help be a part of continuing this journey and having your own input on the coverage of Welsh sport to an ever-growing audience. This role involves varied working hours, including some evening and weekend working.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Looking after BBC Sport Wales’ social media channels from ideation through to publication.
  • Strong knowledge of latest social media trends and how these could be applied in everyday work.
  • Strong knowledge of Welsh sport and sport as a whole, as well as keeping across the latest stories.
  • Editing short-form video for the website and social media.
  • Covering live sporting events and working in a fast-paced environment.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Strong journalistic and editorial skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and latest trends.
  • Ability to edit video and create platform-specific content.
  • In-depth knowledge of Welsh sport and sport globally.
  • Ability to create engaging copy for social media platforms.

DESIRABLE:

  • Adobe Suite knowledge.
  • Welsh language.
