Oxfield Court is a nursing home and respite service and is a 28-bed service across 5 bungalows based in Huddersfield.

About The Role

St Anne’s Community Services is looking to appoint a dedicated

Caretaker to support Oxfield Court. The purpose of this role is to ensure the buildings and grounds are maintained to a consistently high standard, creating a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for service users, staff, and visitors.

You will deliver both planned and reactive maintenance, work closely with the Oxfield Court Management Team and St Anne’s Maintenance team, and liaise with external contractors where required. All work must be carried out in line with health & safety legislation and organisational standards.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to a high standard
  • Ensure buildings and grounds are safe, well maintained, and fit for purpose
  • Use tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and in line with Health & Safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including timesheets and work logs
  • Liaise effectively with care staff, management, maintenance colleagues, and external contractors
  • Identify and report health & safety risks promptly
  • Ensure value for money by completing work efficiently and to agreed standards
  • Contribute to team meetings, training, supervision, and ongoing development
  • Follow all organisational policies, procedures, and changes in working practices

  • Practical maintenance skills across a range of areas (e.g. basic plumbing, electrical awareness, carpentry)
  • Ability to carry out physical tasks safely
  • Competence using maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team
  • Commitment to health & safety, quality, and service standards

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or caretaker role
  • Basic IT skills to maintain digital maintenance logs
  • Experience working in a care, housing, or supported environment
