Summary of Position Purpose:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and implementing production plans, ensuring that all materials and goods required for production are available in the right place at the right time. The Planner will also work closely with other departments, such as Customer Service, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to ensure that production is aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Production Planning: Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and strategies that effectively utilise available resources to meet production demands. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless production processes.
- Demand Forecasting: Analyse historical data, market trends, and customer demands to forecast production requirements accurately. Continuously refine and adjust forecasts to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
- Capacity Management: Assess production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks. Propose capacity expansion plans or reallocations of resources to optimise production efficiency and meet production targets.
- Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels by coordinating with inventory control teams and ensuring timely materials procurement. Minimise excess stock and obsolescence while preventing stockouts.
- Resource Allocation: Allocate workforce, machinery, and equipment efficiently to meet production schedules. Coordinate with operations to manage workforce scheduling, overtime, and temporary staffing as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve production processes, reduce lead times, and enhance operational efficiency. Work with relevant stakeholders to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Risk Mitigation: Anticipate potential production risks and develop contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted production flow. Address any issues that may arise during the production process promptly.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyse production performance metrics, including on-time delivery, production output, and resource utilisation. Generate regular reports and provide insights to management for data-driven decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, such as customer service, marketing, and finance, to align production plans with overall business objectives and customer demands.

- Proficiency in using production planning software and MRP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Production Planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
