HLTA

Oasis Community Learning

Date: 1 day ago
City: Grimsby, England
Contract type: Full time
Think of some of the most iconic partnerships, like Sherlock and Watson, Wallace and Gromit, or even astronauts and mission control. Behind every leading figure is someone steady, skilled, and essential. At Oasis Academy Wintringham, we know that our teachers and students succeed because of the incredible support team behind them; and that’s where you come in.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you’ll be more than support, you’ll be a co-pilot in the learning journey. You’ll help students navigate challenges, build confidence, and thrive in and beyond the classroom. Whether you’re leading lessons, supporting interventions, or offering a steady presence, your work will make a real impact every single day.

But we’re not stopping at traditional support. We’re going further to reach the most challenged and underserved SEMH students through the creation of a brand-new Alternative Learning facility. Designed for a small cohort of up to 10 students, this nurturing environment champions different thinkers and recognises untapped potential that’s waiting to be believed in.

Our newly refurbished AP centre is more than just a learning space, it’s a vibrant, multi-cultural hub featuring specialist learning zones and sensory areas. You’ll be part of a dedicated team of professional educators and support staff, all focused on one mission; providing safety, structure, and belief in every young person who walks through our doors. It’s a place that any passionate HLTA would be proud to be part of, and one where your dedication will truly change lives.

What’s in it for you?

If you're someone who’s driven by the desire to make a genuine, positive impact on young lives, and you have the ambition to grow your expertise then we’ll support you every step of the way.

At Oasis Academy Wintringham, we believe in investing in people. Through exceptional professional development opportunities both within our school and across the wider Oasis Community Learning Trust, we empower our team to progress and thrive. Whether you aspire to refine your current role or aim for senior leadership there are no barriers to how far you can go.

  • Real impact – Help young people develop confidence, independence, and academic success every single day.
  • Professional development – Access high-quality CPD, additional training, and clear pathways to progress your career.
  • Supportive culture – Join a warm, diverse team where everyone’s contribution is valued and inclusion is championed.
  • Room to grow – With the backing of the wider Oasis family, there’s no limit to your potential.

Together, we can shape brighter futures — including your own.

About The Role

We’re looking for someone who brings both expertise and heart to this key support role. You’ll help deliver high-quality teaching and learning across the Academy, stepping up to lead classes when needed, and supporting students with a range of needs and abilities.

You’ll be joining an ambitious, passionate, and supportive team that is committed to delivering the very best education for our students.

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • HLTA status (or a willingness to work towards it)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a school or support setting
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • A calm, resilient, adaptable and trauma-informed approach.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH or additional needs
  • Strong relationship-building and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, stay organised, and bring energy to the role.

Why Oasis Academy Wintringham?

We’re a Good-rated secondary school with a strong sense of purpose: to raise aspirations, close the gap, and ensure every student thrives, whatever their background. Ofsted (March 2023) praised our inclusive ethos, ambitious curriculum, and exceptional pastoral care. The launch of our newly upgraded AP centre is part of our continued commitment to serving all learners.

You’ll be joining a values-led, motivated staff team in a school that’s moving confidently toward Outstanding. When things get tough, we support one another and that makes all the difference.

We’d love to meet you. We actively encourage visits so you can experience the unique feel of Oasis Academy Wintringham for yourself. To arrange a visit or chat, please contact us.
