Purpose of the Role
To manage safety critical training and competency within Rail Services. Responsible to the senior
freight trainer assessor for ensuring effective implementation of railway group standards and
industry codes of practice, including strategies and policies significant to the safe operation of all
freight. This also includes freight equipment owned by third parties and operated under contract.
Responsible for assisting in maintaining the integrity of Colas Rail's ROG compliance. Implement
and manage training and competency assessment regime, including risk management and safety
performance monitoring.

and manage training and competency assessment regime, including risk management and safety

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective systems are in place to manage freight and artisan’s competencies.
- Co-ordinate training and re-certification of artisans and freight Drivers.
- Maintain the staff competency data base.
- Develop training and assessment documentation.
- Assist with Technical, Safety & incident investigations as required.
- Analyses, forecast, plan and monitor the competency management system.
- Attend meetings as business requirements
- Lead and participate in Safety meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
- Be a widely experienced railway person with an excellent knowledge of freight operation.
- Have comprehensive knowledge in rail industry standards relating to freight including operational safety, and Health & Safety legislation.
- Hold Trainer, Assessor Qualifications.
- Be willing to undertake further training as the post dictates.
- Have excellent communication skills and organisational ability.
- Have excellent IT skills. Experience in administration organisation.
- Hold UK driving licence.
