At Steer Commercial, part of the Steer Automotive Group, we specialise in repairing vans, HGVs, and specialist fleet vehicles. With a focus on quality, precision, and safety, we’re looking for an experienced Panel Technician to join our professional and well equipped team in Sunderland.

The Role

As a Panel Technician, you’ll carry out high-standard structural and cosmetic repairs on a wide range of commercial vehicles. Working in a modern workshop alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to exacting standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing panel repairs and replacements on vans, HGVs, and fleet vehicles
  • Using welding, bonding, and alignment techniques in line with industry and manufacturer guidelines
  • Collaborating with paint and MET technicians to ensure smooth repair flow
  • Documenting work accurately and following health & safety procedures
  • Contributing to the quality standards and continuous improvement of the workshop

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Panel Technician, ideally within a commercial vehicle environment
  • Confident in using specialist tools and techniques, including welding and structural repairs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude and clear communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising safety or standards
