Are you curious about how everyday materials interact with the water we drink? At NSF’s Oakdale office in South Wales, you’ll be part of the UK’s largest independent water fittings and materials testing laboratory, with over 75 years of expertise in water safety and quality.

We’re looking for a Junior Laboratory Assistant to join our Materials Testing team - where you’ll help test materials that come into contact with drinking water, ensuring they meet national and international safety standards.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Performing tests on materials that are intended to come into contact with drinking water
  • Preparing and conducting odour and flavour assessments for expert panellists
  • Running analytical tests on water samples, including colour, turbidity, and metal content (using ICP-MS)
  • Supporting basic microbiological testing, including cell-line maintenance
  • Accurately recording and entering data, and maintaining lab records
  • Communicating with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Helping with general lab upkeep, including washing glassware

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual
  • Someone who can work independently and take initiative
  • A background in science (further or higher education preferred) and ideally some lab experience - but don’t worry, full training will be provided
