The department
We have an opportunity for a part-time Receptionist to join our St Albans office. We require a minimum of 4 hours per day - 10am-2pm Monday to Friday - with the potential of further hours to cover holiday.
Our St Albans office welcomes clients of the Firm seeking support in any of our legal services, although primarily in Private Client, Family and Residential Property. The successful candidate will join an experienced full-time Receptionist as an integral member of our St Albans team.
The role
The role is varied; a mix of front-of-house reception, telephony and office administration where delivering exceptional client service is the priority. Our Receptionists are Firm ambassadors and are often the first point of contact for clients and visitors. It is therefore imperative that our Receptionists are of high calibre, professional, have a personable nature, are calm and empathetic.

Day-to-day Tasks Include
- handing incoming telephone calls from potential, new and long-standing clients and third parties, quickly identifying the nature of the enquiry and promptly directing to the correct colleague,
- greeting visitors to the St Albans office in a courteous and professional manner,
- taking pride in how the office is presented, ensuring the reception area, kitchen and wider office are tidy and organised,
- dealing with incoming post – keeping a detailed record of documents coming into and going out of the office,
- processing new client documentation,
- office administration duties including stationery provision, file scanning
- effecting weekly fire alarm testing and evacuation records,
- coordinating the meeting room diary, providing refreshments, ensuring meeting rooms are correctly set up and cleared after use,
- liaising with People & Talent and relevant fee earners to report any absences from the office and
- dealing with minor facilities issues with the support of the Branch Partner.

We Are Looking For Someone Who
- has previous customer service and/or reception experience, ideally in professional services or high-end hospitality
- is a natural team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- is presentable
- demonstrates professionalism
- organised with a methodical approach to tasks
- has a calm demeanour, particularly when busy
- has active listening skills
- has a clear speaking voice and a high command of English
- is a confident user of Microsoft IT applications and a basic switchboard.
